Please allow me to take the words of the apostle Paul and apply them to the way I feel about you. His words to the Christians at Philippi truly speak my heart concerning our fellowship of faith at Providence Church.
“Every time you cross my mind, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God. Each exclamation is a trigger to prayer. I find myself praying for you with a glad heart. I am so pleased that you have continued on in this work with me, believing and proclaiming God’s Message, from the day you heard it right up to the present – especially the present. There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.” – Philippians 1:5-7
Yeah, I know, pretty mushy, but it’s my heart. HONEST!
Over the past year we have seen the hand of God all over us! We have truly been blessed. I have to say that this has been a very good year for Providence Church, and, as the apostle said; “Every time I think about it, I break out in exclamations of thanks to God, and true enough, each exclamation of praise triggers a grateful heart to prayer.”
I FIND MYSELF PRAYING FOR YOU WITH A GLAD & GRATEFUL HEART!
This passage also reminds me how you have persevered with me throughout the years. There have been some lean times, dry periods, wilderness wanderings…times when it seemed as though the LORD had forsaken us. Still, you stayed, and I am grateful that you have continued with me in this work.
Now, those years of perseverance and prayer are paying off…
AND WE ARE NOT JUST BLOWING SMOKE!
This is an amazing move God taking place, and He has promised that it will intensify. Yes, there will be obstacles but those obstacles can only hinder, not stop this move, and those obstacles, through prayer, will be removed if we persevere. Once again, I am asking you to invite your friends to church. Do you notice we are having visitors for every service? We have something to offer everyone. New ministries are springing up and surely there is one for you to plug into.
So, let it be known and understood that this is for real. I simply encourage you to get in on it! While it cannot be stopped, it can certainly pass you by. You will see things, if not already, that will offend you. In our pursuit of Him, we will certainly make mistakes along the way. We will not do everything right, but at least we are not afraid to try something new. I never again want to be at a place where we are so afraid of offending God that we never try anything new for Him. As long as everything we do’s purpose is to bring Him glory, He will be blessed, not offended.
So, there you have it. There’s fire in the Providence Church house brother’s and sister’s, not just smoke!
