jerem-29The things we desire and things God desires may or may not correspond well with each other. This can cause big problems for the person seeking to please the heart of God with their life. I thought I had it all figured out. By the time I was a sophomore in high school I was going become a preacher and seek a full-time opportunity to do so with the hopes to not have to work a regular job. Boy was I wrong! I did get a certification to preach through my denomination and did began preaching. 1 year later I was out of high school & ready to find that opportunity!  Well, I had to get that “real” job start working. I did not understand. What had happened to my plan? It wasn’t until just a few months ago, Providence Church Focused on the plan and not the plannerafter I joined Providence Church, that my new Pastor, Don Boyett spoke a word that really ministered to me. This word spoke truth into my soul about a difference between sin & iniquity. Then it hit me! I really did not seek God for what He wanted. It didn’t take me too long to figure out that there was a reason to why I was so miserable all the time. I was still living the “Christian life”, but continued to do my own thing, and not God’s. He allowed for a desperation to build inside of me. This desperate cry lead me to begin to pray in a way that I had never thought to pray. “Jesus, what is your heart? What is it you desire for my life?” Then He spoke to me and said, “Keep seeking me and walk with me. When you see “it” you will know.”

At that point I threw away my agenda. I cried out, “Mold my heart until it looks like Yours.” My perspective changed! Now, my circumstances did not change. I still worked a full-time job and serve in my church as a volunteer as much as I’m able. However, now I know that it’s OK and I’m right where God wants me.  I have but one regret; I wish I would have known then what I know now.

GodsPlan Providence ChurchFor those of you who are reading this, God has big plans for you. They may not look the way you think they should look or even the way you always dreamt of. But they are perfect. I challenge you to ask God to show you His heart for your life and begin to crucify your own agenda and submit to Jesus’ perfect plan for your life! Listen, I’m still learning and making mistakes. It’s going to happen! However, I do know that my heart has become more focused on one thing and one thing alone. Jesus! I encourage you to dig into the Word of God. If you just open your heart to the Holy Spirit and dig into the Word, He WILL show you things you have never dreamed of! Start by reading Colossians 1: 9-12. Crossing out Plan A and writing Plan B on a blackboard. This brings such an excitement to me because I no longer have to worry about the plan I have for my life. This brings me so much freedom. The good news is that you do not need to worry about your life either. This freedom can start for you today! Just a little obedience and a heart ready to submit to His plan is all it takes. Jesus wants you to live a successful life. Our own agendas and ambitions can actually hinder God’s plan and put Him in a box. Examine yourself and seek the face of God. He is faithful to show you. Remember, He takes delight in you!
